Rescue-System v3 Beta for dedicated servers
« on: October 28, 2016, 04:28:34 PM »

Hello,

Version 3 of the Linux Rescue System is now available in the customer panel under the menu "Rescue-System" as beta version for all dedicated servers . The v3 can still be started via the network.

The new Rescue System v3 will replace the previous Gentoo Linux based system. The new system operates on a slightly modified CentOS6 platform and, like with the previous Rescue System, allows to work on the server without using the system installed on the hard disk, e.g. for debugging.

The most important advantage of the new system is that there is a usable installation environment over "yum", i.e. Packages can be easily installed afterwards. The Rescue System thus becomes significantly more flexible than the previous one because additional repositories can also be integrated.

Whats new:

* CentOS6 based Linux Rescue System
* Enhanced driver support for maximum hardware compatibility
* Enabled firewall (IPv4 and IPv6)
* Preconfigured IPv4 and IPv6 support
* Functional "yum" package manager
* Additional integration of repositories possible
* Support for 3ware and LSI hardware raid controllers

kind regards,
Katrin

After a long and successful test phase, the rescue system v3 has now been activated as
the default rescue system. The changes are already in force for the whole system.

The old rescue system can still be used, but must be explicitly selected from Rescue system list.

kind regards,

Susanne
